چکیده

We study fluctuation effects in a two species reaction-diffusion system, with three competing reactions A + A → ∅, B + B → ∅, and A + B → ∅. Asymptotic density decay rates are calculated for d ≤ 2 using two separate methods the Smoluchowski approximation, and also field theoretic/renormalisation group (RG) techniques. Both approaches predict power law decays, with exponents which asymptotically depend only on the ratio of diffusion constants, and not on the reaction rates. Furthermore, we find that, for d < 2, the Smoluchowski approximation and the RG improved tree level give identical exponents. However, whereas the Smoluchowski approach cannot easily be improved, we show that the RG provides a systematic method for incorporating additional fluctuation effects. We demonstrate this advantage by evaluating one loop corrections for the exponents in d < 2, and find good agreement with simulations and exact results. Cellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches

The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...

Anomalous subdiffusion with multispecies linear reaction dynamics.

We have introduced a set of coupled fractional reaction-diffusion equations to model a multispecies system undergoing anomalous subdiffusion with linear reaction dynamics. The model equations are derived from a mesoscopic continuous time random walk formulation of anomalously diffusing species with linear mean field reaction kinetics. The effect of reactions is manifest in reaction modified spa...

On the origin of Turing instability

A reaction–diffusion system consisting of one, two or three chemical species and taking place in an arbitrary number of spatial dimensions cannot exhibit Turing instability if none of the reaction steps express cross-inhibition. A corollary of this result – obtained by elementary calculations – underlines the importance of nonlinearity in the formation of stationary structures, a kind of self-o...

Kinetics of Fe2O3-Al reaction prior to mechanochemical synthesis of Fe3Al-Al2O3 nanocomposite powder using thermal analysis

The effect of ball milling on kinetics of the thermite reaction of 3Fe2O3 + 8Al powder mixture to synthesizeFe3Al-Al2O3 nanocomposite was investigated using differential thermal analysis. A model-free methodwas applied to the non-isothermal differential calorimetry (DSC) data to evaluate the reaction kineticsaccording to the Starink method. The activation energy of the thermit...

Anomalous kinetics in diffusion limited reactions linked to non-Gaussian concentration probability distribution function.

We investigate anomalous reaction kinetics related to segregation in the one-dimensional reaction-diffusion system A + B → C. It is well known that spatial fluctuations in the species concentrations cause a breakdown of the mean-field behavior at low concentration values. The scaling of the average concentration with time changes from the mean-field t(-1) to the anomalous t(-1/4) behavior. Usin...
